about
"Money To Make" is a song I wrote and produced during the pandemic. I began an Instagram series entitled Black Excellence Series Inspired by Ismael Rivera & Outkast. I am born and raised in Atlanta, Ga and I attended collage on the island of Puerto Rico at the age of 18. Before coming to the Caribbean, I knew little about the culture and the experiences of the people that worked and lived there. But to my surprise, there was a very strong Black community that had food, music and slang that I could relate to and understand as a fellow black person. I began to realise that no matter where we are in the world, Blackness is something that ever non-black person is gravitated towards for good or bad. And to see my people of the Afro-Diaspra be treated less than or belittle and everyone else claiming our style, rhythm and speech is something that didn’t really surprise me. The Atlantic Slave Trade was a trillion dollar business ran and organized by different cultures of Europe. By that being said, my research in the Afro-Diaspra of the West Indies and South America has led me to different Slave Descendants communities that we in north America are ignorant of. This song is an ode to all people of the Afro-Diaspra, which in reality all music in the western hemisphere is Black music.
